Spotlight On: Talia Veerasawmy, Project Coordinator

Updated: Sep 29, 2022

Continuing on with our monthly 'Spotlight On' story about a member of our team, this month it's the turn of Project Manager, Talia Veerasawmy.

What do you do/job role at Venture 1?

My role at Venture 1 is Project Coordinator.

What attracted you to working at Venture 1?

What attracted me the most about wanting to work for Venture 1 is their values. Decent, Honest and Respectful is what they said and what they stand by, I don’t think I could of asked for a better company/family to be apart of.

What sort of things do you do day-to-day at Venture 1?

My role varies, I primarily coordinate and organise consultant’s diaries to ensure time is being utilised efficiently, as well as monitoring consultant’s workloads to make sure they are not being overworked. I also support the Professional Services Director with delivery management and assist with existing and new projects, all whilst being a buffer between our clients and their consultants.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Venture 1?

THE TEAM! – what makes Venture 1 different from all the roles I had previously been a part of is the relationship between senior management and team members. I believe everyone has been in a position where their director or line manager indirectly reminds you what position you are in, but not with Venture 1. I feel more valuable and purpose-led than in all my previous roles put together.

THE WORK CULTURE! - Walking into Venture 1 office is like walking into a college common room. We have a huge pool table in the middle of the office, a chill out corner with bean bag chairs and a coffee table that has a bowl, full of SWEETS and colourful desks. It sure beats working in an all-white office!

If you could invite any 3 people round for dinner who would it be?

1) Rihanna – Not only am I a big fan of Rihanna music, but also what she does outside of music. Rhianna has accomplished so much like Fenty beauty where she has created both make up and lingerie for women of all different skin tones as well as women with different body types. Now that’s what I call inclusive!

2) Robert Kiyosaki – WHO DOESN’T KNOW ROBERT KIYOSAKI!! He is best known for being the author of Rich Dad Poor Dad. Robert Kiyosaki has challenged and altered the way that tons of people around the world think about money. It would be a privilege to have him over for dinner to seek inspiration, life advice and tips about entrepreneurship.

3) Elyse Love - After reading about why Elyse wished to pursue her career in dermatology, I instantly reignited with her experience, finding a dermatologist is difficult, along with a practitioner who understood my skin concerns. Also, it is true that there aren’t enough dermatologists who understand darker skin tone concerns and what our skin needs. It would be great to have dinner with Elyse and discuss her current skin breakthroughs.
