Spotlight On: Joshua McCammon, Technical Apprentice

Continuing with our 'Spotlight On' stories about a member of our team, this month it's the turn of Joshua McCammon.

What's your role at Venture 1?

I'm a Technical Apprentice.

What attracted you to applying for an apprenticeship at Venture 1?

The main thing that attracted me to applying for an apprenticeship at Venture 1 was the opportunity to learn from those who have years of experience in the field. As someone who is taking their first steps into the IT industry, I felt it best to begin with the most support and training that could be afforded to me in order to build a solid foundation for the future.

What do you hope to achieve during your first 6 months at Venture 1?

During my first 6 months at Venture 1 I hope to be able to gain as much knowledge as possible; becoming well acquainted with the most prevalent systems used in the company and better able to solve tasks allocated to the team.

What’s your impression of working at Venture 1 so far?

If I could use one word to express my impression of working at Venture 1 so far it would be “refreshing”. The team is welcoming, and the working environment feels constructive yet calm. It has made me as a new starter feel more confident to move forward, without feeling pressured or overly anxious (which can normally be the case when entering a new field for the first time).

Favourites:

  • Favourite Film: The original Star Wars films / Interstellar.

  • Favourite Dinner: My wife’s Jerk chicken with “cauliflower rice”.

  • Favourite Drink: Would have to be summer fruits squash (mixed in sparkling water).

  • Favourite Book: The Pilgrim’s Progress

  • Favourite Brand: Anything from Primark is usually a win for me!

  • Favourite Emoji:

If you could invite anyone round for dinner, who would it be?

It would have to be Ray Comfort, Paul Washer and Voddie Baucham. I listen to them quite a lot online so would be great to meet them in person.
