Continuing with our 'Spotlight On' stories about a member of our team, this month it's the turn of Claire Hornett.
What's your role at Venture 1?
I'm the Finance Administrator.
What sort of things do you do day-to-day at Venture 1?
I look after the invoicing, answer finance queries, and pay the bills. It’s a lot more complex than it sounds! I’m freelance so I work from home – luckily I knew some very clever techie people who were able to sort my PC out so that everything runs smoothly (thank you helpdesk 😊).
What do you like about working at Venture 1?
I’m fairly new here so I’ve probably been asking lots of silly questions - but everybody has been incredibly helpful, so I’ve almost found my feet already! I also love the flexibility to work the hours that fit around my lifestyle.
What do you do outside of work?
Football, football, and more football! I usually play four times a week for ladies, mixed, and now men's teams (which is allowed at over 50’s level, yay for getting old!). Friendlies, league, and national – with a couple of international trips coming up. Other than that, I love snorkelling – Red Sea if possible, and have been known to do the occasional pub quiz.

Favourite Film: Life of Brian (the Latin graffiti is genius!).
Favourite Dinner: Raspberry pavlova
Favourite Drink: Very milky Mellow Birds coffee (much to the amusement of certain other Venture 1 staff members!)
Favourite TV Program: Taskmaster (who wouldn’t love a go at those tasks!)
If you could invite anyone round for dinner, who would it be?
Ozzie Ardiles (to teach me how to master that flick he does in Escape to Victory)
Michael Palin (I just love his sense of humour and imagine he must have some incredibly interesting anecdotes)
Angus Young (to ask him if the video for Thunderstruck at River Plate was real – what a gig!)
