Venture 1 Consulting recognised with 5 Stars for its support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Venture 1 Consulting, IT Consulting and Managed Services Specialists, has long been working towards a more sustainable future. Now, the company is proud to announce that its support for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals has been officially recognised by Support the Goals, achieving the maximum 5-Star rating, an accolade awarded to less than 30 organisations worldwide: https://businesses.supportthegoals.org/businesses/venture_1_consulting

The UN Sustainable Development Goals - also known as the Global Goals or SDGs – are a plan to end poverty, extreme inequality, and climate change by 2030. Agreed in 2015 by world leaders, these goals can only be achieved with the support of businesses. Venture 1 Consulting has been awarded 5 stars by Support the Goals. Stars are awarded when businesses publicly demonstrate plans, commitments, actions and progress towards the SDGs.

Venture 1 Consulting has been working to make an impact across UN goals 8,13,16. In recent months it has committed to:

• Providing decent, meaningful, long-term jobs and supporting youth employment (Goal 8). To demonstrate this:

  • Committed to a maintaining a minimum of 10% of its workforce as apprentices on its Apprenticeship Programme. It is currently operating at a rate of 17%.

  • It has recently been awarded the Investors In Apprentices Silver award from Investors In People, in recognition of its strong youth apprenticeship programme.

• Supporting and driving a sustainable technology supply chain (Goal 13) for itself and its customers. To demonstrate this:

  • It has formed a partnership with Community TechAid, so it can offer a repurposing or recycling service to its customers for old laptops, tablets and smartphones. These devices are revamped for use by those without current access to technology, to help bridge the digital divide within the its local community.

  • It is in the process of formalising a partnership with a laptop remanufacturer so it can supply ‘as good as new’, warranty backed laptop models to customers, which will deliver significant sustainability benefits by reusing kit rather than sending it to landfill.
