The Challenge
The organisation was operating a business-critical Azure environment under a Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) subscription model, which limited commercial flexibility and made cost governance, billing clarity, and operational oversight increasingly difficult as usage scaled.
With production workloads supporting external customers and revenue-generating services, any change to the Azure subscription model needed to be executed without service disruption, while preserving security controls, identity permissions, and workload stability.
The customer required a modern subscription and operating model that could:
Transition from PAYG to CSP without impacting live services
Preserve existing security, identity, and access controls
Improve cost management, billing transparency, and governance
Enable access to enhanced partner-led support
Provide a scalable foundation for future Azure optimisation

The Solution
To address the organisation’s commercial and operational challenges, Venture 1 designed and delivered a controlled migration from a PAYG Azure subscription to a CSP model. The solution ensured continuity of service while introducing improved cost governance, subscription management, and partner-led support.
Key elements of the solution included:
Discovery & Analysis: Assessment of existing Azure workloads, dependencies, and access controls to ensure a safe migration path.
Design & Planning: Definition of a phased CSP migration approach aligned to Azure best practices and governance standards.
Execution: Secure movement of Azure resources between subscriptions without downtime or service impact.
Validation: Post-migration checks to confirm security, performance, and operational integrity.
The approach delivered a clean subscription transition while laying the groundwork for future cost optimisation and service enhancement.

Benefits & Results Derived
Improved Cost Governance: Enhanced visibility and control over Azure spend through CSP billing and cost management tooling.
Operational Stability: All workloads were migrated without disruption, maintaining service availability throughout the transition.
Simplified Subscription Management: Centralised subscription ownership and governance reduced administrative overhead.
Enhanced Support Model: Access to partner-led support improved responsiveness and operational confidence.
Scalable Azure Foundation: The CSP subscription enabled future adoption of optimisation services, reservations, and advanced Azure capabilities.
Commercial Clarity: Clearer billing, forecasting, and consumption tracking supported better financial planning and decision-making.
