Spotlight on: Drew Koria - Business Development Executive (2 Years Later...)

What are the things you like most about Venture 1 over the last two years? Over the last two years, what I've liked most about Venture 1 is the company's commitment to its employees' well-being and professional growth. The emphasis on fostering a positive work environment and providing opportunities for development has been truly outstanding.

Most fun social activity at Venture 1: Whilst the regular team nights out are always a hoot, I believe the most enjoyable social activity that stands out in my memory is our recent company away trip to Brighton. It was an incredibly fun-filled two days where we had the chance to engage in various team-building activities. I particularly relished the experience of go-karting (Qualified 3rd and finished 5th!), clay pigeon shooting (which despite being my first ever time I managed to win in points - I credit Halo 3 and the Battlefield series!), and sharpshooting with a real automatic rifle. It not only allowed us to unwind but also strengthened the bonds within our team. Massive shoutout to Olly for organising it all!

Favourite thing you do as a part of your role: One of the aspects I appreciate the most about my role is its inherent variety. As a Business Development Executive, I get to engage in a wide range of activities to develop opportunities from outbound lead generation to creating creative collateral, building relationships with partners and working on our website. This diversity keeps my work engaging and ensures that no two days are the same. It allows me to use my skills and creativity in different ways, making my role both challenging and fulfilling.

What would you want someone else to experience from your role: If I were to choose something to give to someone else, I would want them to experience the role of outbound lead generation. It's a demanding job that requires persistence and resilience due to the constant rejection and the sheer volume of calls needed to generate positive results. It's a fantastic learning experience, but it's not for the faint of heart. I believe anyone who takes on this role can gain valuable life skills in handling rejection, building resilience, and mastering the art of persuasive communication.

Favourite place to go on holiday: I have travelled to quite a few counties, but by far the most enjoyable holidays I have been on are to the destinations I wasn't initially particular comfortable or excited to travel to. These included India and Malaysia for (big fat Indian) weddings. I stayed with some really lovely family members who gave me the warmest welcome (with cake!), who took care of me and made my time there an absolute joy!

Favourite YouTube Channel:

I have over 250 subscriptions so it it's hard to choose, but here goes:

  • Mystery / Crime: Explore With Us - Excellent content that uses real police interrogation footage.

  • Informational: The Infographics Show - Facts are fun, but most are presented in boring and badly edited videos. The Infographics Show focuses on making animated motion infographic videos, made in a fun and entertaining way.

  • Cars: So many, but I guess The Late Brake Show - Great "barn find" content.

  • Inspirational: Yes Theory - Life's greatest moments and deepest connections exist outside your comfort zone. Seek Discomfort, Say Yes.

  • Food: Wilderness Cooking - Amazing food cooked in the most beautiful locations with a touch of ASMR.

Thanks to Drew for participating in another Spotlight On!
